Wow things are getting bad here in Australia, at the next budget the government is bringing in a new policy where unemplyed and pensioners are going to be forced to look for jobs and forced to take them.

Don't get me wrong I agree with the long term unemployed being forced to take jobs, and any unemployed oever a certain time (say a year or so) to be drug tested at regular interviews, but hitting pensioners is going to far.  There are some that lie about it but there are a lot that are genuinely sick, I am one of them.  I can walk to the shop at the end of the street most days at my pace, can even mow the lawn a couple times a year but that's it, I can't go out in public much as I am highly allergic to most things scented, especially perfumes, deoderants etc.  How many places are safe from scents? very few.  On top of that I am a grand mal epileptic and Insulin dependant diabetic.  And I am supposed to get a job, yeah right.

If I was lucky enough to get one, it would have to be a real good wage to cover all my medications, this is the same fear most disabled pensioners are thinking, medications cost alot, but if you have to take a few it is very expensive

Taking the plunge

Well we've decided to take the plunge and get a loan on top of our current house loan to get the roof replaced, security doors as we don't have any and a front & side fence as we don't have a front fence and need a new side fence

I hope the repayments aren't to much lol, or that idea will go down the drain, at least we are trying

wow it's been hectic

Spent the last month on a governement scheme that entitles me to free dental at a private dentist and getting my hearing fixed.  I have two years treatment, this scheme is specifically for people with serious health problems that just can't get fixed on the public health scheme.  Wasn't expecting the dental work though, wow, had all my top teeth ripped out so far (in one hit) and one had to be surgically removed because the roots where in my sinus.  This eating soft foods really sucks, I am hanging out for a nice big piece of steak.   It's worth it in the long run though. 

Been a bit quiet

Sorry I haven't posted lately, it's been so busy here, my daughter and her boyfriend decided it's time to move out so we have been looking for a place then moving them, then visiting every day cause we miss them rofl, also I have been very sick which is nothing new for this time of year, things are finally starting to level out so I should be back to posting again

It's "Super bowl" time of year

It's that time of year again and I love it, there are two events in the year that I look forward to - Super bowl & Wrestlemania, down here in Australia we don't have anything anywhere near the specularity and size of these two events.

This year my two favourite teams are playing against other, I have been a Steelers fan for a longer time so I will stick with them on this one.  Either way may the best team win

American TV ggrrrr

American TV is starting to really suck, not so much the shows as most of my favorite shows are American, but what pees me of is the way you get a couple episodes the a big break then a couple more episodes.  Shows like Supernatural that build up a story really suffer from this.  I for one find it hard to keep up the mood of an exciting series with all these breaks.

So please let us watch our TV in peace, at worst the one mid season break

A friend of mine put a post on Facebook mentioning how one town in Queensland is about to be flooded and they have lost all communication, it's one of those "copy and paste on your profile posts" so that hopefully people in that town using Facebook will get the message.  Some guy decided to take the opportunity to take that post and mention how aboriginals haven't been mentioned on the news casts of the floods and how aboriginals are so hard done by. 

Something as serious as what the current floods are should not be used for such discrimination, this is a time when all races / colours come together to help and support, it's narrow minded people like this that taint others efforts  ggggrrrrr

Felt sorrowfully saddened today

My better half and I maintain the garden for a an elderly couple, they are 90 years old and have been together for 60 odd years.  She likes her garden ornaments and has a variety mounted around the place, nearly all are cemented one way or another so they don't get stolen.  But there are a couple lovely ones that are mounted in a big tree.  She woke up New Years Day to find the tree ornaments stolen, what a great start to the year.  I can't believe someone would steal from a 90 year old couple, scum is all I can say
