Merry Xmas all

Christmas tomorrow, I hope you all have a great day.  I personally am not looking forward to it, not seeing the grandkids this year as my daughters (their mother) new boyfriend who has a real Hitler complex doesn't like us so she isn't allowed to see us.  Will be a sad Christmas in this house.

Sometimes things go right

We where planning on skipping Christmas this year as when we bought this house we where lied to by the real estate agent and we found out after that there hadn't really been a full building inspection.  The roof leaks (in one place it's even plugged with a coke can), half the power points are faulty, so we decided to skip christmas and save to fix things, especially the roof as we have been having unusual amounts of rain.

Anyway, this morning I won $1,000 through a radio christmas competition so now we are having christmas, soooo happy.  Just proves you have to be in it to win it

Freeware - ImgBurn 2.5.4.0

ImgBurnImgBurn is a lightweight CD / DVD / HD DVD / Blu-ray burning application that everyone should have in their toolkit! ImgBurn supports a wide range of image file formats - including BIN, CUE, DI, DVD, GI, IMG, ISO, MDS, NRG and PDI. It supports Unicode folder/file names, so you shouldn't run in to any problems if you're using an international character set. It's a very flexible application with several advanced features that are often lacking in other tools, especially when it comes to burning DVD Video discs. It supports all the latest drives without the need for updates (including booktype / bitsetting / advanced settings on many of the major ones - i.e. BenQ, LiteOn, LG, NEC, Plextor, Samsung, Sony). There is an image queue system for when you're burning several images (which you can automatically share between multiple drives if you have more than one) and an easy-to-use layer break selection screen for double layer DVD Video jobs.

The Automatic Write Speed feature allows you store your favourite burn speed settings on a per 'Media ID' basis, right down to a drive by drive level. Data captured during the burn (write speed, buffer levels etc) can be displayed / analysed using DVDInfoPro. Whilst ImgBurn is designed to work perfectly straight out of the box, advanced users will appreciate just how configurable it is.
ImgBurn supports all the Microsoft Windows OS's - Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT4, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003, Windows Vista, Windows 2008 and Windows 7 (including all the 64-bit versions). If you use Wine, it should also run on Linux and other x86-based Unixes.
ImgBurn works in several Modes, each one for performing a different task:
• Read: Read a disc to an image file.
• Build: Create an image file from files on your computer or network - or you can write the files directly to a disc.
• Write: Write an image file to a disc.
• Verify: Check a disc is 100% readable. Optionally, you can also have ImgBurn compare it against a given image file to ensure the actual data is correct.
• Discovery: Put your drive / media to the test! Used in combination with DVDInfoPro, you can check the quality of the burns your drive is producing.

A Windows 7 Tip

Windows 7 Hidden and New Themes

- Windows Explorer -> Organize -> Folder and Search Options ->Show Hidden Files
- Uncheck the Hide Protected Operating System Files. Confirm your actions of prompted to do so. Click OK when you are done.
- Go to the folder WindowsGlobalizationMCT and locate the following five folders: MCT-US, MCT-CA, MCT-GB, MCT-AU, and MCT-ZA). All these files correspond to the five geographical areas mentioned above. Also, you might want to know that the themes for Australia (AU), Canada (CA), and South Africa (ZA) are the same.
- Access folder containing the theme you would like to activate. Example: for UK access MCT-GB and double click GB.theme. This will activate the theme; in the future you will be able to activate it from the personalization settings.
- The final step is optional: uncheck Show Hidden Files and reactivate Hide Protected Operating System Files.

Android must have software

I'm an Android software junkie, love the stuff, I download it, use it for two weeks then if it is good enough I buy it.  I just found an absolute must have program for everybody, especially the aged or those with health issues.  This is "ICE: In Case of Emergency".  Is a software where you type in all your details and everything you have that is health related including medications / allergies / next of kin etc.  It leaves a noticeable icon on your main desktop for any medical emergency people that may have to access it, hopefully not.

I do not work for or know the people that make this software, I just find it very helpful to everybody from the user to family to medical staff

Relying on the weather for the internet sucks

Summer has finally arrived (which I don't get along with, 35 C + days don't agree with me) and my internet is playing up real bad so I haven't been able to access this page to make posts or anything.  I don't undertand what the problem is but when it gets hot I lose my internet, I know it's not my modem cause I always have the airconditioning on

Mobile Phones

Anyone that knows me knows I can't stand mobile phones, the way you can't go anywhere without hearing one ring really irritates me.  But I am starting to change my tune, well I will always dislike the lack of privacy but I am on my second contract phone and I am really loving this one.  My last one was a Sony Ericsson c905 which I got solely for the camera and cause everyone nagged me to get one cause of my health.  This new one, a Sony Ericsson XPeria X10i is fantastic, I am loving this Android platform and all the software, I find myself using it for everything, shopping lists, calendar, the works, can't go anywhere without it.  On one condition, nobody expects me to ring them or answer when they ring lol, one day it may change

Elm St

I finally got around to watching Nightmare On Elm St today (the new remake) and I didn't think it was to bad but sorry to say I think Jackie Earle Haley sucked as Freddie, he just wasn't convincing as Freddie in any way.  Pity cause I like him in Human Target and Watchmen.

Bye Bye Facebook

I've been on Facebook forever and have seen a lot of changes there, and I have to say in all honesty very few are for the good.  I have been saying to myself for a while that it is time to move on as it has become a real spam machine, every day I was getting an inbox full of spam from marketers recommending pages or people in the entertainment industry using Facebook to advertise themselves but not really communicating with their fans.  And really, reading about what someone is having every meal time, it's just not a happy place anymore.  So I deleted my account and after a week of discovering how addicted to it I was and how it had taken over my life I am loving the freedom, bye bye Facebook

Australian Cricket today

One can't help but notice how lousy Australian cricket is at the moment, can't get much worse.  It's obvious a lot of changes need to be made, but where?  In my opinion it's well overdue time to get rid of Ponting.  In most other sports if a team is doing real bad the captain steps aside and let's someone new have a go, why not cricket?  I think get rid of Ponting and Clark and make new, drastic times call for drastic measures

Michelle Rodriguez & Sea Shepherd

I've been seeing heaps of posts both for and against Michelle Rodriguez doing one for the whales on the Sea Shepherd.  I for one am very proud and honored that someone famous is taking the time to do this, I wish there would be more as long as it doesn't turn into a gimic if you know what I mean.

One thing that pees me if is the posts I have seen criticizing her and saying that her and other stars that are vocal to the cause should be spending the energy on supporting the soldiers at war.  All I can say to these people is get a life!!! There are many causes globally that need equal attention for different reasons, I consider wildlife that man is exterminating and bringing to extinction an extremely worthy cause, if you have nothing nice to say about the good a person does then shut up!!!!

Oprah in Australia

I have nothing against Oprah but her coming to Australia is a huge farce.  I mean really, is Australia that desperate that we have to pay for Oprah and all her friends and staff etc to come here.  Yes, she is coming because everything is paid for, not because she chose to and is doing it out of her pocket.  Even their spending money, meals, everything is supplied.  In my opinion that is totally wrong and very sad
